Zenith Crusader * The Royalty of Sound Amplifiers - Vintage 1963 F*S

My Uncle Louis died on Columbus day in 1963 and the next month, around the time JFK was assassinated, my Aunt gave me his hearing aid. I was 11, I played with it and I think wore it to school till I exhausted whatever batteries she gave me with it. It has been in my dresser drawer for the last 57 years. I took it out, put a new battery in and it works like new! I think Uncle Louis had gotten it just before he died because it sure looks like new. There isn't s dent or scratch on it, and no corrosion in the batter case. As I read, the Zenith "Crusader" Transistor Hearing Aid was manufactured by the Hearing Aid Division of the Zenith Radio Corp. beginning in September, 1955. It was an 4-transistor aid. It measures 2" x 1⅜" x ⅝" thick, and weighs 1½ oz. with battery. The case is gold-colored anodized aluminum with a vertical rectangular microphone grill in the front center of the case with the Zenith crest in the center.

It has a 1 to 7 volume control/on-off switch, a 4-position tone control labeled "H" (high), "M" (mid), "L" (low) and "F" (full) and another switch marked "M" and "T" that I can't figure out. The earpiece cord jack is in the center.
