Super cool Atomic-age Model 800A Chrome Percolator with a glass bubbling top manufactured by the United Metal Goods Mfg Co, circa 1949/1959. This is the "Rocket-ship" design percolator, a truly iconic late Art Deco consumer product - model 800A is the higher-end version, featuring automatic function - the pot shuts down into warming mode once the coffee is brewed. It has an elegant etched scrolling design around the center,. Truly a beautiful example - this pot has the red translucent catalin side and spigot handles, functions perfectly, and is complete with all parts including a near-new cord. The pot as a whole looks barely if ever used - it has a few minor scratches from being in the world for 70-or-so years - but virtually pristine looking inside-and-out. Pot stands 13 3/4" tall to the top of the large glass bubbler dome lid handle, with a max diameter of about 6" and max width of about 8 1/2". 8 Cup capacity per the demarcations on the side of the brew basket. Truly about as nice of an example of this set as one might find

The pot was my Mother's, has been gently used and the inside looks spiffy clean. Many people question the quality and effectiveness of an electric percolator. This is a "cold perk" unit, just put cold (filtered) water in it, and it begins perking almost immediately, heating the water quickly to just below boiling (190 F), then recirculating the water gently through the ground beans for 10 or 11 minutes (just long enough to extract all the goodness) before automatically shutting down the perk cycle, and throttling back to the "warm" mode (170 F).

Its no exaggeration that this is a coffeepot that will last 2 lifetimes, my Mother's and next yours!  Diabolically clever, and Oh So COOL !
