Sherwood S-6020 CP Analog Stereo Preamp and C-6040 Analog Power Amp TESTED WORKING

Original owner, I paid $800.00 for the pair in 1982. I am downsizing and its time to say farewell to these old friends. They are in service and work perfectly. I have never driven the amp with anything approaching 100 watts and the pair is acoustically pristine. The cases show little evidence of wear, the corners and edges are sharp and only the bottoms show meaningful scratches.  Cosmetically, I rate then 9 on a 10 scale and being dark they still look great.

The S-6020CP is a vintage early '80s stereo preamp. It is notable for featuring analog circuitry combined with digital push-button volume controls alongside extensive connectivity options for multiple turntables and tape decks.

The S-6040CP is a vintage early 80s high-quality 100-watt-per-channel (WPC) stereo analog power amplifier. Known as a "sleeper" ,a hidden gem that delivers premium, high-end sound performance at a fraction of the cost of its contemporary competitors.

I can vouch that the Sherwood S-6040CP is correctly and frequently compare to the famous Hafler DH-200. It is built using a heavily modified adaptation of Hitachi’s landmark reference circuit. The S-6040CP actually offers a beefier power supply and much sturdier, all-metal chassis construction than the Hafler equivalents of its time. When paired with the S-6020CP preamplifier, it produces a distinctively lush, warm, and dynamic sonic profile with excellent high-frequency extension.
