Meyer-Blanke Co. Stoneware Crock from L A Millet Dairy - 1 Qt c1923

This was my Mother's cherry-bounce crock. My family is of French/Acadian descent and a traditional drink is "cherry bounce," a mixture of wild cherries, sugar, and whiskey. . Momma used this crock to make cherry bounce for holidays. Surprisingly, a wild cherry variety can be grown in Louisiana. It has a tiny fruit 3/8 in diameter.
Momma was born in1923 and she used to tell she could remember her childhood before they had electricity. Her Father, my Grandfather owned a dairy in Garyville, La. the dairy purchased dairy equipment and products from the Meyer-Blanke Co. in St. Louis, Missouri. Meyer-Blanke's motto was 'everything but the cow'.
This little stoneware crock holds about a quart and it still perfectly usable. The home she grew up in, in Garyville, and ran the dairy from is pictured.
