This UNIVERSAL Vacuum Carafe was made by Landers, Frary & Clark of New Britain, Connecticut in 1917!! Woodrow Wilson was president, and the United States had just entered WW 1 when this was manufactured. Very retro carafe with a classic design with a nickel-plated brass body and chrome-plated metal handle and spout. A very stylish piece with a sleek chrome shape, perfect for keeping coffee hot on your desk, tastefully, for hours. Can also be used for keeping liquids cold, chilled, and ready to drink. This quart-size carafe has no dents and the nickel-plated barrel is remarkably bright. The stopper looks to be original. I've used this from time to time and it still keeps my coffee hot. This is an interesting collectible as a carafe, ~11" tall with a stopper. Note in the last picture the same carafe sitting on President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's desk when he signed our declaration of war against Germany on December 11, 1941.
