These vintage, 4-ohm, 20-watt speakers are well known for delivering surprisingly rich, high-quality audio, high efficiency, good imaging, and robust performance with smaller amplifiers, not to mention their small size. For a small box, the SP-UX7000 series can deliver a solid 20 watts and excellent for those who have limited space. I paid $189.00 for the pair in 1989, I am downsizing and its time to say farewell to these old friends. JVC was famous for their quality and tight tolerances, and these speakers are true to that ethos. The cabinets have been matched to the speakers which gives an extremely tight tolerance of .5 % which is the reason for their famous "ruler flat" frequency response. These have matching pair numbers 15417F and were selected by JVC to pair perfectly.
I have never driven them with anything approaching 20 watts and they are acoustically pristine. The cherry wood veneer cabinets show little evidence of wear, the corners and edges are sharp and only the bottoms show meaningful scratches.  Cosmetically, I rate then 9 on a 10 scale and being dark they still look great.
