Factory Original HERMES ROCKET or BABY Platen*knobs - Grey - New Old Stock F*S

These are genuine, factory-original HERMES ROCKET or BABY Grey Platen knobs made from tough-as-nails thermoformed plastic that will not crack or chip like the first ones Hermes used. This knob replaces the broken Right-Hand knob on Hermes Baby and Rocket typewriters. No disassembly of your typewriter is necessary, merely loosen the setscrews and remove the hub and broken plastic knob from the spindle. Insert the replacement knob onto the old hub and press the new knob on with a vise, or with a pair of pliers. Please note that this listing is for a replacement GREY platen knob only. The typewriter pictured is not part of this sale, you are purchasing only one (1) GREY platen knob and will receive a factory original grey knob. Where did this stash come from? I began selling and servicing typewriters in 1967 and I sold at least 3 Hermes typewriters a week for 20 years until Hermes ceased production in the 80s, that's ~ 3000 Hermes typewriters! The original knobs were a weakness from day one, and such a problem that Paillard, the Hermes company,  authorized dealers like me to replace the broken knobs at no cost to the customer. Every service shop got a number of knobs commensurate with their sales. When we replaced the knobs on a machine, we simply submitted the serial number and were paid by Paillard. Note that these are just  bit smaller than the originals, Paillard was providing these as a goodwill gesture so they used the same knob pattern for both the Baby/Rocket machines and the 3000s except the hub bore is a little smaller for a Baby. You'll find that the outer diameter is slightly smaller than the original Seafoam green ones but they fit and look real nice.
