This was my Father's 1960 vintage Durall No. 416 rock maple hardwood miter box made in Yonkers, N.Y. It is kiln dried, jointed and rabbet cut and you cas see that is hardly used. A miter box is used for left or right hand sawing at 45°, 90° and 135° angles. There are some superficial stains but otherwise, it looks almost new after 65 years of storage. Durall didn't make miter boxes for that long, just ~20 years from 1941 to 1961. That era is considered a golden age for cabinermaker's hand tools, and Durall Miter Boxes are known to be of the highest quality.

This miter box is for the woodworker that is happy to work unplugged, you'll know what I mean when you read this, it's like fast food vs slow food, it's getting back to the heart of woodworking & using your hands, not flicking a switch.
