The hallmark of the Beljik is its remarkable color, from varying shades of deep reds, blues, and blacks. Beljiks are generally considered to be the finest of all tribal-style rugs. This 3’ x 6’ rug has approximately ½ million knots, all tied by hand. (169 knots\/in\u003csup\u003e2  \u003c\/sup\u003ex 2592 in\u003csup\u003e2  \u003c\/sup\u003e= 438,000 knots!) The dominant colors here are Burgundy, Ivory, and black. There is blue as well but so dark it is hard to distinguish it from black. It has a natural pile of wool fibers, on a cotton or wool foundation. The knotting of the Beljik rug is the finest of all tribal-style rugs.
