Necchi BU Nova Sewing Machine w/ Foot Pedal + Case
Mom was born in '23 and married Dad in '51. She was an excellent seamstress and sewed most of our clothes on her Singer. She sometime spoke about a Necchi machine so right after I was born in 1952, Dad surprised her with this machine. So guess what, she continued to sew on her old Singer! We brought the Singer to her assisted living home when she couldn't live alone anymore. Mom is gone, the Singer is still at assisted living home and the Necchi is here for sale. For all practical purposes, this is a 73 year old, brand new BU Nova. It's clean as a whistle inside and out. You won't find a trace of fabric lint anywhere on or in the machine. I think she never used it. In the pictures you can see a bit of paint chipped off the arm. Somebody stored the pedal on the arm instead of in its separate compartment. We moved and it bounced around in the van and shipped the finish. The BU Nova is the Rolls Royce of sewing machines, and the crown in Necchi's products. It does every type of sewing that does not require a computer. The BU is a flat bed machine with an oscillating hook and manual zig-zag, which means you select zig-zag by shifting the stitch width lever rather than pushing a button. It is a very simple, very heavy (42lb) cast iron machine with no plastic parts whatsoever and is thus heavy enough that it will stay put when placed. Its powerful enough to sew many layers of material including leather. For a maker of costumes this is one of the best machines. Recently serviced with all the electrical cords replaced, it isready to bring years of pleasure to someone. Includes foot control, manual (copy), foot petal case and a pressure foot.
This Necchi weighs 42 pounds in its case, and properly packed for shipment it will weigh ~60 pounds.
