M.E.P. Art-Deco slip shade close chandelier F*S
This is a lovely 3 bulb/slip-shade M.E.P. Inc. Art-deco close chandelier light in exceptional, all original condition. It was made by Markel Electric Products, Inc., which was founded by Joseph Markel in the early 1920s. The firm's name was changed to "Markel Electric Fitments, Inc." in 1923. This chandelier is identified in the casting as M.E.P. thus it can be dated at about that time. It is what is called a slip shade chandelier, meaning the opal glass shades slip into the aluminum basket frame. It features a handsome and simple geometric art deco style and intricate detailing throughout. The gold-painted aluminum is meticulously crafted and has a juxtaposition of sharp edges and graceful curves on the slip shades. There are 3 light sockets within the slip shades so this chandelier gives off plenty of radiant light! It is about 13" diameter and suspends about 12" below the ceiling. The wiring is intact and appears to be original - all old and vintage light fixtures should be checked by an electrician before installation, for safety.
I have 2 identical pieces for sale, both in excellent condition.
